Perplexed

Perplexed.

Should I feel excited about the European Forestry Field Course that is set to begin on 1st of May, during which we are going to visit five different universities in five different European countries? Or should I get worried about the visa to Canada that I have applied for but not heard anything after the application?

I am not worried if I will not get the visa; there is no reason for the visa rejection. Even if the submitted documents are not enough, they will ask first to submit the required documents before making the decision. Why I am worried is, (puzzled again – should I get worried or excited?) I am flying to Romania on the 28th of April (this month). And I need to have my passport with me while travelling to different countries during the field course. What aggravates the situation is – there is no visa office of Canada, processing the application here in Finland. The office that processes applications from Finland is in London, the UK. And to get the visa stamp on the passport, I will need to send my passport to London and get it back before flying to Romania on 28th.

One possibility is – mailing the passport to London after reaching Austria on 7th and getting it back either in Germany or in Spain. (We will only travel inside the Schengen territory after we leave Romania). But, last time when we were coming back to Finland from Stockholm (Sweden) after visiting the VFS office in Stockholm (there is not even a VFS office in Helsinki), the security personals in the port asked for our passport. Generally, it is not checked – I flew from Helsinki Airport to Stockholm Airport and back to Helsinki Airport again during the Christmas holiday and nobody asked for it – but in case they ask for it, like in the port of Stockholm, we will get stuck for sure. There had been a terrorist attack in New Zealand during that time and maybe that was the reason why the border security was tightened. And, as there is always something going on in France, I really doubt if we will be able to enter France freely (only with Finnish residence permit) without our passport.

This week, I have been checking my email most frequently than ever. I am fully aware that worrying helps NOTHING at all. But still, there is this feeling that comes automatically; what should I actually do!?

At least it is not only me in this situation, but there are also other two friends who are in the same situation. 🙂

Anyway, everything happens for a good reason. Let’s cheer up??

Perplexed again! I will not be able to go as a Visiting International Research Student to UBC if I do not get the visa in time.

Let’s hope for the best and see you soon UBC! 🙂
