“When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don’t adjust the goals, adjust the action steps”
Confucius
Welcome to our Utopia! This blog will illuminate our vision of an ideal existence, exploring societal aspects such as power structure, education, work, culture, behaviour and several others. By extension of this, connections will be made to several of the founders of Chinese thought. As far as the overall picture of our society goes, reading through our entries will make it clear that we (naturally so) postulate an intermediacy between accounts of writers such as Confucius, Mozi, Laozi as well as Mencius. At the very core lies communal living, equality, merit, and impartial caring. As such, it is a society removed from modern conceptions of financial and political contentions. Thus we conduct a retrospective approach. That is, a return to a more modest existence focused on the well-being of the individual that is consistent with equal treatment for all. The entirety of our Utopia will take place within our City-state, or Polis.
Given the myriad of accounts and articulations, we have provided a short summary of the various philosophers referenced in a menu for the reader’s convenience.
We hope you enjoy!
