Daily Life Quote #19
“Limits like fear are often just an illusion.” – Michael Jordan
6 playoff championships in 8 years. That’s what you call a change changer. He said the above quote in his Hall of Fame speech and it made an impact on me. I think that often we bind ourselves by what the world has imposed on us. Which is why we are amazed when someone or something comes along that completely changes the playing field.
Before 1954, it was said that being able to run 1 mile in under 4 minutes was impossible. Enter Roger Bannister who ran it in 3.59.4
[Exercise] Do not follow your passion, follow your effort
Whether you like basketball or not, you’ve heard of Michael Jordan. A man that found what he loved to do early in life and never gave up trying to achieve his best everyday. I think the key is if you find what you love, or what you you’ll keep trying to be the best, so that regardless of whether you are winning or losing. You are enjoying the experience.
Every time I watch the video below, I get goosebumps. It’s people like Jordan that inspire me everyday. Video after the break.

Relaxation is who you are.
Chinese Proverb
Motivational and Insightful Poem
Today you can choose to count your blessings
or you can count your troubles.
Today you can live each moment
or you can put in time.
Today you can take action towards your goals
or you can procrastinate.
Today you can plan for the future
or you can regret the past.
Today you can learn one new thing
or you can stay the same.
Today you can seek possibilities
or you can overwhelm yourself with the impossible.
Today you can continue to move forward
or you can quit.
Today you can take steps towards resolving your challenges
or you can procrastinate.
You see today the choices are up to you
in deciding what you do today.
Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes.
~Oscar Wilde
How to stop procrastinating
A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life. ~ Charles Darwin
You only have on average 24,445 days to live on the face of this earth. If your 25, you’ve only got roughly 15,000 days left. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it’s quite true.
If you haven’t listened to Randy Pausch’s motivational speech, one of the things he says is “Life is not about living long, but about living well“. Every hour you spend procrastinating, or doing something unproductive, that’s one less hour you have to do something you enjoy, with someone you enjoy being with. As a species, we tend to be reactionary creatures. If we find out we have cancer, then we live the remaining time we have to the fullest. But it doesn’t have to be that way! You have always had a choice. Be proactive, rather than reactive.
Think about that the next time you need to make a tough decision in your life. Don’t live a life of regret, live a life of compassion. Don’t worry about the bad decisions you’ve made in the past, focus on making it right and keep moving forward.
And the next time you decide to procrastinate, I hope you can remember what was said today. Because in the end, if your not doing something you love, what is it all for?
[Video] The Blenz Coffee Guy on Success: His inspiring speech
Inspiring speech by George Moen of Blenz Coffee:
Below I have summarized the key points of his presentation at Networking with Purpose organized by Ricky Shetty, an amazing individual (which I highly recommend you check out) enhanced with my views:
– Most great wealth has been created during tough economic times. You can make money in both good and bad times, if you are looking for it. It’s the moment you stop looking, that you’ve given up the opportunity
– People lower their dreams to meet their current financial income, but remember that what you think you are worth is what you’ll be worth
– Build value and build trust first with people, before trying to
