Be Grateful.

This guy definitely should…for being alive.

And so should you. Everyday. How’s that for inspiration and motivation? You never know what may happen to you tomorrow, so live in the moment.

I am fortunate to live in a first world country, and I don’t know how times I’ve seen people complain about their life being boring and take many of the things they have for granted.

People say their lives are lacking inspiration and motivation, yet they have so much at their fingertips. There is a part of the brain known as the Reticular Activation System or RAS. It focuses on the things you want it to focus on and that are relevant to you. That’s why when you buy a Toyota Corolla, you see more of them on the road.

The same can be said about the lack of inspiration and motivation you feel. The more you think you are lacking it, the more your mind will provide you validation to justify these feelings.

Instead, be solution oriented. Think of where your motivation comes from and things and people that provide you inspiration. I made a poster of some of my role models to aid in this. This poster I read from my friend Earl Flormata’s facebook page originally from Brain Page’s facebook page sums up my thoughts nicely:

Be solution oriented, and you will start to feel the motivation and inspiration enter through you.

ACTION STEP: Each evening for the next 10 days, write 3 things you are grateful for. Do this consecutively over the 10 days. I have made it a goal to write 5 things each evening before going to bed for the next 90 days, and I can tell you it is an amazing exercise and I wake up feeling great.
