Restaurant review: McDonald’s

We chose McDonald’s.

It’s a famous restaurant where kids like to go and when they grow up, they still like to eat their beef and chicken hamburgers, chicken nuggets, etc. On campus, there’s a McDonald’s in the University Village, near Staples, which is a 15 minute walk from the residence.

The cost of the food at McDonald’s is also low, around $10 per combo, and they have kids’ prices. In general, the service is fast, the decor and ambiance are ordinary and it’s not clean enough. There is a lot of garbage on the floor, on the tables and the waste baskets are full. I like McDonald’s food a lot; in fact, I have become a little bit dependent. A positive point for this restaurant is that they have a 24 hour location on campus.

Restaurant Review: The Delly

THE DELLY

6138 Student Union Boulevard, Vancouver V6T2A5

The Delly is well located in the Student Union Building. It is a good restaurant where you can eat for less than $10. There are excellent sandwiches for $5-6. It is a kind of high quality fast food! The meal I tried is the salmon sandwich, it was really good for the price; it was a pretty big portion too! The negative points are that there is a pretty big line up on rush hours and some members of the staff speak barely English. But instead of that they have low prices!

Top 10 things to bring to UBC

TOP 10 things to bring to UBC :

Because of the Temperature ?

1. Umbrella : for obvious reasons; 100% chance of precipitation -100% of the time

2. Raincoat : the official UBC uniform

3. Camera : had better be waterproof

4. Sunglasses : only for style (you’ll never need it). It’s probably better to bring rainglasses!

5. Hair dryer: preferably portable : you’ll need it almost every time you go outside!

For the kitchen ?

6. Toaster : Unless you want to be late to class because of the line up in front of the toaster

7. Dishes : Unless you want to use a napkin

8. Empty Bottle: Because the water here is more expensive than coke!

9. Peanut butter: a good source of proteine for breakfast, lunch and dinner

Another thing …

10. Gas Mask: because the beach is not polluted at all!

Bienvenue! Welcome!

Welcome to the blog!

In this bilingual workshop students became news reporters creating content about the Explore program. These stories are now being published online on this blog – like a yearbook — so that all of the students and staff involved will be able to enjoy a tangible souvenir of the program. Students worked in small groups to create editorial articles, top ten’s and surveys, and were also invited to do some photo-journalism and videos.
