First Impressions of Vancouver

 

  1.    Asian Presence
    1.     According to the 2011 census, 30% of Vancouver’s population are of Chinese descent.
    2.     Many convenience stores are owned by Asians.
    3.     Many stores and banks have Chinese characters in their branding and advertisements.
  2.    Lush, Green Environment
    1.      Vancouver is engulfed with trees and beautiful green lush grass. There’s a beautiful view of the mountains, pure, natural scenery.
  3.   Weather
    1.    Pleasant weather with clear skies when not raining.
    2.    There is a lot of precipitation in Vancouver!
  4.   Birds and Wildlife
    1.      The different varieties of birds and flowers add to the uniqueness of Vancouver.
  5.    Homeless Presence
    1.      Hastings street: here there are many homeless people who don’t have money to purchase basic necessities.
  6.    UBC Campus
    1.       The UBC campus is very large with plenty of buildings and diverse faculties.
  7.   Advanced Transportation System
    1.       The transportation system consists of the skytrain and buses. Buses and skytrain are consistently on time. The transportation system covers a large area.
  8.   Central Chinatown
    1.       Buildings in Chinatown looked old and dirty. It seemed like businesses were not profitable because stores closed very early.
  9.   Airport
    1.       The airport was very busy with many passengers leaving and arriving.
  10.   Expensive city to live in
    1.       Consumables are rather expensive in Vancouver. In addition, the amount of tip left by customers is greater than the national average.
