Is Touch ID 100% Safe?

Recently, when I was doing research about Apple’s new product IPhone X, I found an article about Apple Company.  It talked about several Apple’s online products such as Touch ID and how Apple is building its next massive business without large amount of people noticing.

After reading it, I realized that as an iPhone user, I am unconsciously contributing to this massive growth. Before Touch ID was invented, an alphanumeric password is needed to unlock an iPhone. Sometimes, when I want to use my phone and there are people around, it makes me uncomfortable to show my passwords. The good news is that Apple innovated Touch ID and no passwords are required any more. When I use Touch ID, I thought its function is

aiming to insure the security and privacy for iPhone users. After I locked my phone, people who do not have my fingerprint will be unable to unlock my phone. Because of this fundamental function, Apple Company developed it and gave Touch ID more diverse purposes than I imagine. Since it makes your phone almost completely secure, “the iPhone suddenly becomes an almost perfect mobile payments device.” It becomes a way for iPhone users to purchase online. People do not have to bring cash or cards with them, scanning phones becomes a fashionable and convenient way to consume. But the question is: Is Touch ID 100% safe?

The answer is NO. The latest Apple product iPhone X uses Face ID instead of Touch ID. You may ask why. To tell the truth, although Touch ID indeed provides a lot convenience, some loopholes still exist. Sometimes, fingerprinting is an extremely unsafe technique. When you use the phone, a lot of fingerprints are left on the screen or cover of the phone. People can capture one of these fingerprints to unlock the phone and finish payment. The security of fingerprint is the lowest of all the existed mainstream authentication methods and the difficulty of cracking is almost the minimum. Therefore, from the very beginning, fingerprinting was a compromise that sacrificed safety for convenience. It was a safe mine. Once it broke out, the consequences would be disastrous. As long as there is a new and more suitable way, we should try to think about unplugging this mine. That is one of the reasons why Face ID replaces Touch ID in iPhone X.

To conclude, Apple Company is improving its product gradually. Touch ID eliminates the drawbacks of password and Face ID terminates the disadvantages of Touch ID. As an Apple fan, I believe that in the future, Apple will develop products with high safety to satisfy customers.
