The service learning activity at David Thompson was a great chance for us to start getting the feeling, as educator, about how students in IB program can benefit from CAS requirements, and as a life-long learner, about how an individuals can network with each other through collaboration while sharing the same ultimate goal. I personally thought it was a challenge for me as I am not very familiar with gardening and I am somehow sun-allergic, but everything turned out to be very smooth (except I got diarrhea the other days suspectingly because of the water) and I was very amazed that people can actually work together even though we did not quite know each other yet. I believe there is a power of sharing the same goal that can bring everyone together and really strive to achieve. This reminds me of the 2010 Winter Olympic in Vancouver, in the final day there was the Men’s Ice Hockey Final, I still remember the moment when Canada scored the “golden goal”, everyone in the field no matter what ethnicity, background, culture, etc. they are, shouted and cheered loudly and proudly as a Canadian. This time, I have the similar feeling again.

What a giant sunflower!
