The first day of CFE started with a breakfast meeting where I got to meet with many of the staffs from different subject areas, then I met with one of the person I wanted to chat with the most – the math department head. Since today is a Pro-D day, the majority of our time was spent on administrative logistics such as moderating Grade 10 Personal Project and joining the writing continuum meeting.
According to my observation, the school environment is extremely neat and clean, the atmosphere among staff members is cooperative while relaxing, and most excitingly, all the staff members are welcoming and looking forward to offer opportunities for us teacher candidates to explore and offer our stuffs. The school has many events going around, for instance the arts week this week, Jeans Day on Thursday, DP Exam Invigilation next week and field trip to Playland next Wednesday. I can see all the opportunities to get involved and share with my own ideas and enthusiasm.
What I have learned today was mainly the administrative process such as how teachers finalize their decision on grading and curriculum. The question I have is whether such decisions involve revision and communication with students and parents.
I look forward to explore more about the school in regular school days.
