The last day of CFE was a half day since it was followed by a long weekend. Still, I had some good experience from running another Microsoft Word tutorial, participating the Grade 6 World Expo poster session, and invigilated the test of my grade 10 enriched class. After saying thank you and goodbye to the staffs, I ended my CFE journey with lots of inspiration and great experiene that are very helpful for my future career.
The school totally inspired me. As I mentioned during the final meeting, I do consider this place as the “dream school” to work in because it is so “rich”. By saying “rich” I am considering the amount of activities going around and amount of things created in this school which is relatively very small in size. In my opinion, smaller size allows many sophisticated things to happen in the school. Not only the students on average receives more attention from teachers, but also we can see a firm social network among all the teachers. According to my observation in the staff room, everyone was able to switch between work mode and relax mode smoothly and communicate each other well as colleagues. I have never seen such close staff team that each person was able to have a long chat with everyone else. I think this is one of the most important facfor toward a strongly organized school, because when we have a strong staff relationship, we can implement lots of classroom management and administrative logistics more efficiently as we will have the feeling that all other staffs are supporting us. Once I am really grateful to have this opportunity to explore such a wonderful learning environment, not only for students but for everyone in the school. Of course we may also want to explore poorer learning environment just to open our eyes even further, but this did on the other hand open my eyes to be able to see what my ideal school really looks like.
Thanks to St. John’s, I wish you all the best of luck!
