On Day 2 we got to experience the regular school day for the first time; the regular school day felt very different  to the Pro-D day that we had yesterday. The school was full of energetic and enthusiastic students in different ages from K to 12. My day started with a quick meetup with Karen just to clarify some expectations and sort things out. Today was also the first day I got to tour around the school and had a better sense of direction in the school, thanks to Karen for taking time to show me around and explain more about the school to me.

The majority of the morning was spent on helping out the arts week event in which I helped laying out the art gallery and framing the paintings. According to Karen, there will be an assembly the day right after the long weekend, so this was the first time I saw all the students and staffs gathering in the same place which I totally fell in love with the family-like environment. The school seemed nice and small to the point that most people seemed to know one another. Only the second day I have already met most of the teachers and look forward to working with any one of them.

In the afternoon I mainly observed the math department head, Sukhbir’s math classes, one Math 10 Enriched and one IB Math 11 Higher Level. I was amazed how advanced students are and how much they are ahead of the regular BC curriculum. The test that students were writing in the IB Math 11 Higher Level class is almost the same difficulty as the first year university math course.

Just in two days I have already explore a bit of both extra-curricular and academic aspects of the school and the school seemed to have outstanding performance on both.
