Topic: How do immigrants perceive IB program? What are the current issues related to such perception?
What I found out:
- Parents love it
- Universities value IB courses and credits.
- IB Program well-prepare students for university.
- The studying atmosphere is good.
- Parents think regular classes are too easy for their kids.
- students usually don’t look happy with it
- Language challenge
- Overwhelming writing.
- Students’ interested subjects are usually hard to stand out due to the busy schedule.
- Required to be all-around students, some students’ weaknesses may be magnified.
- Problems:
- Some immigrant parents tend to be lack of research and information and listen to myths such as “most university prioritize IB DP students”.
- Some immigrant parents (not all) values scores much more than other performance.
- Conclusion:
- Building a connection with parents, especially immigrant parents who try to get involved to the community.
