Could Help Social Media in Job Searching ?

In few months, many of us will be worry about finding our first job. That is why, I have started to search some interesting articles about this matter. Rapidly, I have found some data about the relationship between social media and job search.

According to a study carried out by  CareerBuilder.com, 37% of employers  use social networks to screen potential job candidates. That means about two in five companies browse our social media profiles to evaluate our character and personality–and some even base their hiring decision on what they find. Moreover, employers were asked why they use social networks to research candidates, and 65% said they do it to see if the job seeker presents himself or herself professionally.About half (51%) want to know if the candidate is a good fit for the company culture, and another 45% want to learn more about his or her qualifications. Some cited “to see if the candidate is well-rounded” and “to look for reasons not to hire the candidate,” as their motives.

So if we want that Social Media help us, we have to be careful about what we post on our profiles. However, the study reveled that 29% of surveyed hiring managers found something positive on a profile that drove them to offer the candidate a job.

Thus, we don’t have to focus on what we have to post or not, we have to work on building strong social media networks and creating online profiles that do a really good job of representing our skills and experience in the workplace.
