During this course of e-marketing we have learned many things, and one of them has been the possibility to automate your tweets or Facebook posts. It is a useful utility because companies could save time and money by scheduling their posts. However, this new tool could cause some big errors that companies would wish never have made them.
It was some weeks ago when the Instagram account of the deceased Joan Rives published a post promoting the new Iphone 6. Suddenly, the fans of Joan complained, and the post was quickly removed. Clearly, it was the result of a pre-negotiated deal with Apple.
Another example of a failure in automate posts, was from the Engadget’s Facebook page. The blog fired out 7 Facebook posts in about 60 seconds. Consequently, the fans felt that they were spammed and the engagement of the content posted got decreased significantly.
These are some examples of mistakes caused by automate your Facebook’s posts, tweets or Instagram’s posts. As commit these kind of mistakes is unforgivable, social media managers of companies must be careful with their automated posts and review them frequently. Besides, it is recommended to use the minimum amount of automated messages possible, since followers expect to have someone in the other side of the page, not just a machine which publishes every 2 hours. We don’t have to forget that Social Media is a tool for conversate and share with others, and if all is automated there is no interaction.
