The checklist can even be used when considering videos created by others as a way to reflect on what design principles make a good video.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Keeping it Simple:<\/span><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<p>\u2610 Visuals are used optimally (they augment the learning)<\/p>\n<p>\u2610 Audio is used optimally (it augments the learning)<\/p>\n<p>\u2610 There are no distractions (background noises, distracting movements\u2026etc)<\/p>\n<p>\u2610 You are speaking at a reasonable pace (not too fast, not too slow)<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #008080;\">Keeping it Short:<\/span><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<p>\u2610 The video is of a reasonable length<\/p>\n<p>\u2610 There is no repetition<\/p>\n<p>\u2610 The working memory is not overloaded<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #339966;\">Keeping it Real:<\/span><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<p>\u2610 The video uses examples which are effective for your target audience<\/p>\n<p>\u2610 You engage the students by asking them leading questions or reflections<\/p>\n<p>\u2610 The video is appropriate for your target audience<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">Keeping it Good:<\/span><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<p>\u2610 You show interest in your content<\/p>\n<p>\u2610 The video follows an appropriate structure (intro, content, examples, conclusion)<\/p>\n<p>\u2610 Visuals and audio are both clear (not blurry or fuzzy)<\/p>\n<p>\u2610 The video is aligned with learning and assessment outcomes<\/p>\n<p>\u2610 The selected design method is appropriate to support the content and learning objectives<\/p>\n<p>\u2610 You have asked feedback from colleagues or your students<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Checklist criteria for creating effective teaching videos: Use the following checklist to help you evaluate if you have incorporated all the important design principles discussed on this website in your newly created video!
