A firm has the most up to date technology, the most skilled employees but the internal politics, rivalry and conflicts in the organization leads it to no real growth. Why? Even after having the best of employees and the best of technology the organization still sees itself not reaching the potential is has. This is where Corporate Culture comes into the scene.
Corporate culture is the beliefs, attitude and values that a company follows and guides its practices. When a company has a unhealthy corporate culture, then how can it ever flourish? All the back stabbing, unhealthy competition, cheating, politics just results to everything falling apart. But with time, it is seen that many organizations are giving utmost importance to its corporate culture in order to keep its employees motivated in order to increase their productivity. A healthy corporate culture keeps everyone in the firm working together in a team where they do not work like zombies, but as if they are living their passion.
What many firms are getting wrong about a healthy corporate culture is that getting nap pods, free lunches or letting them wear sweats is not improving the culture of your business. The basic five necessities for a healthy corporate culture seen across various firms are:
- Employing the people who not only have the right skills but who can also get along with others. They appreciate different opinions and different people in order to have different perspectives and different ideas.
- Technology being used to its advantage: Technology is not only used for collecting and analyzing data but to help employees break their shells and open up with new ideas.
- A healthy corporate culture is that one which embraces and encourages failure and reflection on what went wrong.
- Perks are giving for performance but not on the power of the position. This motivates workers to work to maximum efficiency in order to maximize their performance.
- Titles does not restrict the roles played by the employees.
