FAREWELL LUNCHEON
Congratulations on finishing the Vancouver Summer Program. We are sad that are last event is near — but so excited to share the lunch with you.
You’ll meet at your residence areas at 11:15 AM. Volunteers will take you to the Earth Sciences Building- Room 1012 (where we had our orientation). If you live in Rits or Totem, volunteers will pick you up from Totem.
Lunch will be served (pizza!) and if weather permits, we’ll sit outside for a picnic.
At the luncheon, we’ll show a slideshow, talk about departures, give awards and you will receive your certificates and other info about your courses. The event will end around 2PM.
DEPARTURE INFORMATION
Check Out Procedures
All students must check out, settle any outstanding charges if any, and return keys and key cards prior to 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 16th, 2016.
Students staying in Ritsumeikan and Totem Park Residences should be individually checking out and return your keys through Totem Park Residence Commonsblock Front Desk (please refer to map enclosed). You are advised to check out an hour before your scheduled pick up time.
Students staying in Walter Gage Residences can drop their room access cards in a drop-off box at the Gage Front Desk.
Students with later departures can store their luggage at the Gage and Totem Front Desks.

Students are friendly reminded the following:
1) Have a thorough look of every drawer, closet, and gaps between the beds and ensure nothing is left behind. In previous years we have had students leave behind important valuables such as laptops and they could not be retrieved as they were not found.
2) Check your airplane ticket departure time, especially if it is a red-eye flight (ex. Departure at 1:30am on August 16 means you should be at the airport at 10:00pm on August 15)
3) Check in as soon as you arrive to the airport. Save the goodbyes for after your bags are checked and your tickets have been confirmed by the desk.
4) Please let students whose flights are designated for the pick-up schedule get onto the bus first.
5) If you have extended your stay, please go to the front desk to confirm on August 16 (extension must be booked in advance and insurance is mandatory for purchase).
6) Please be careful not to prop open your doors particularly during the remaining days when many of the students and chaperones will go to The Rockies or somewhere else. Always lock your valuables in a lockable luggage when you are away.
Group Shuttles
Group Airport shuttles to Vancouver International Airport (YVR) will depart from both Walter Gage and Totem Park Residences. Please see the attached map for bus stop locations.
The times listed here are the scheduled departure times. Please check in with us at least half an hour prior to the scheduled shuttle departure time and location. Students missing these set shuttle times are responsible for their own transportation to YVR by taxi or public transportation.

Getting to Vancouver International Airport YVR from UBC
If you are not taking the group shuttles, you have two options to get to the airport:
By Taxi
If you want to take a taxi from the airport to UBC, there is telephone at the Front Desk from which you can call. The fare is around $50 Canadian dollars including taxes, tips, and luggage handling fee.
By Public Transportation
Depending on the day of the week and time you are leaving the airport, the cost of public transit from the airport ranges from $7.75 to $9.00
