What can I do with all this stuff?

By Johanna Webber, Residence Life Manager

Your winter session contract ends on April 26, 2012 at noon. Every year, with the volume of residents moving out, there is excess waste that is thrown out.

You can participate in making your move more sustainable by separating your waste and bringing the following items to the following locations:

  • Non-perishable food will be collected in Mary Murrin for donation to the AMS Food Bank
  • E-waste (cell phones, printers, etc) will be collected for recycling in Mary Murrin
  • Used books will be collected for donation in Mary Murrin for donation to the Reading Tree.
  • Gently used clothing and house wares will be collected for donation in Mary Murrin for collection by the Developmental Disabilities Association.
  • Used Batteries and Ink Jet cartridges will be collected at the Front Desk as usual.
  • Cans/Bottles/Containers will be collected for recycling at the base of each tower and/or the loading bay of the apartments
  • Paper will be collected for recycling at the base of each tower and/or the loading bay of the apartments as well there will be extra paper bins.
  • Left over food will be collected in the green compost bins at the base of each tower and/or the loading bay of the apartments.

To help you in your moving garbage bags are available from the residence advisors, or front desk in mid-April.

Good luck with your finals and with your packing.
