Introduction

Weather forecasting was started in the early days of human cultural development in different regions. In 340 BC, the Greek Aristotle had already developed “Meteorology,” which is the study and analysis of weather in order to make predictions (2004). Nowadays, people are still looking for ways to forecast weather more accurately, because weather forecasts are extremely important. They allow agriculture, industry, transportation, individuals, and government to plan actions and to take precautions against extreme weather events. The accuracy of weather forecast has been debated on frequent occasions as it may not be reliable at all times. So, for this final project of LFS 252, our group has decided to examine the accuracy of the weather forecast by comparing the accuracy of two weather forecasting websites: AccuWeather and Weather.com.  This experimental survey allows us to find out exactly how accurate the forecasted weather is compared to the real weather conditions at UBC.
