The Department of Statistics will be offering two training sessions on the
WeBWorK on-line homework system during reading week. Andy Leung and Bruce Dunham will
be running these hands-on sessions. The first session is intended as
introductory, whereas the second session is for those who have attended
the introductory session, or who are otherwise very familiar with WeBWorK.
The details of the two sessions are as follows:
Introduction to WeBWorK: 2-5pm, 17th February (ESB 1042)
This session will enable attendees to
1. set up a course on WeBWorK, including linkage with Connect,
2. import existing homework questions into a new course,
3. make minor modifications to existing WeBWorK questions,
4. access statistics about student performance.
Developing Questions in WeBWorK: 10am-1pm, 21st February (ESB 1042)
This session will enable attendees to
1. import and customize existing questions,
2. implement some simple randomisation within a question,
3. create new questions from a selection of templates,
4. learn how R has been integrated into WeBWorK and the resulting features.
Should you wish to attend either or both of these
sessions please contact Andy (at andy.leung@stat.ubc.ca) with your CWL
username (though not password) by 7th February. Spaces are limited, and
will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you have any questions about these sessions or
WeBWorK in general, please contact Bruce Dunham at b.dunham@stat.ubc.ca.
