Purpose
Material from each Theme is spiralled across the renewed curriculum. The students cover material from each Theme in an appropriate progression of complexity throughout the four year curriculum. The Themes Integration Team is involved in ensuring the deliberate and effective spiralling of themes material.
Organization
The Themes Integration Team is made up of Theme Leads for each Theme. Theme Leads are involved in planning how the material associated with that Theme is taught across all four years and how it is being spiralled in the renewed curriculum, in alignment with the Week Topic Order and Systems. Theme Leads are responsible for coordinating this with their Theme teams.
Accountability
The Theme Leads report to Assistant Dean, Curriculum. The Themes Integration Lead is the Assistant Dean’s delegate who chairs the Integration Team meeting and is the Themes Leads representative at Curriculum Subcommittee. The Interim Themes Integration Lead is Dr. Cheryl Holmes (cheryl.holmes@ubc.ca). As a group, the Themes Integration Team reports to Curriculum Subcommittee.
