The article ‘How to force ethics on the food industry’ was written by a former executive vice president of global corporate affairs for Kraft Foods who left the industry after acknowledging that the reform of selling healthier food would never come from within.

As is described in the article, a lot of attention is cast on rising percentage of obesity among individuals while food companies are promoting their ‘healthier plans’ which in fact are not healthy. Besides, these companies are explaining causes of obesity of multiple factors to abstract public attention from the calories their productions contain instead of struggling to produce food which benefits public health.

From my perspective, it is the matter of keep the business ethics of the whole industry or not. It is sure that obesity results from a variety of factors, not just the food containing lots of calories. However, food companies cannot disguise this kind of food by lobbying around advocating so-called ‘healthier plan’ or ‘better for you’. Instead , they have the responsibility to focus on how to improve public health level while keep their sales and stockholders.
