Philosophy

**This is meant to be the 250 word description of my blog; however, I wrote it from the perspective of a TL, to an audience of an elementary school student, so they could learn how to blog works and why it is important. This section would actually be intended for parents to read about our SLLC’s philosophy, policies, goals, and missions**

Welcome to the School Library Learning Commons Blog!

At our school, we want our students to feel a sense of ownership and community, when they enter the Learning Commons. We have created this website, so you can independently navigate the Learning Commons, stay connected no matter where you are, and importantly, explore and learn!

You will see tabs across the top of our blog. You can click these tabs to navigate your way around and find what you are looking for.

Our Home page is intended for you to easily see what is going on in the LC. Here we will post weekly activities that occurred in the LC and throughout the school! We also have information about various contests, books of the month, and how to follow us on social media (please do so under adult supervision).

Our About the Authors page is very cool! Here you can explore different authors websites, learn about the author, view book trailers or play book related games. Checking out these websites is a great way to get to know the people behind the books you love!

Did you know you can explore our school Catalogue right from the comfort of your home? Simply access our LC blog, and click the Catalogue tab. From here, you can search for books we have -maybe you will create a list of books to read for 2016! Search for a keyword, if you are interested in a topic, but if you know the author or book in mind, then search by title or by author.

Ebook stands for electronic book! Click the Ebooks tab if you have access to a tablet or computer and wish to read your book electronically. Search the many authors, genres, and series available.

On our blog, you will also see a Links tab. We will mostly be using this during library time, when its time to explore a video or game that relates to the book we have read! You can continue to fun at home as well, and maybe even show your parents what you learned !

Lastly, you will see an Online Resources tab. Click this tab if you wish to access important databases like National Geographic or Worldbook Online. Here you can discover information you are looking for related to your homework projects and classroom activities. You might also like to view a tumble book online before you go to bed!

We hope this information has helped you understand the basics of our Learning Commons blog, and will better enable you explore, discover and learn all things related to our wonderful Learning Commons.
