Economics

Economics is an important aspect of rodeos, and therefore abolishing rodeos completely would have effects on:
1. Rodeo Cowboys: For many of these athletes, rodeo is their career.
2. Stock Contractors: Owners and breeders of rodeo livestock make their living by providing high quality animals for competitions
3. Host Communities: Communities that host rodeo events benefit economically. For example, the Canadian Finals Rodeo generates over 50 million annually in its host community.
4. Tourism: Rodeo events such as the Calgary Stampede are major tourist attractions.
Economic Incentives for Good Welfare
Providing organizations and individuals with economic incentives for the humane treatment of rodeo animals could have a large impact on their welfare. There is a current lack of such incentives in the rodeo community.
