Rodeos originate from the “Wild West” when ranching cowboys would compete with each other on the job. Most rodeo events represent actual skills needed to handle beef cattle. These animals generally have very little human contact, and roping is a fast and safe method of capture, which is important when dealing with sick or injured cattle. These contests often drew crowds, and turned into events with audiences.
