Statistics

Rodeo organizations are not required to publish animal injuries and fatalities, and it is therefore difficult to find a reliable source of statistics of cattle injury and death. However, the Professional Bull Riders has released some statistics on bull injuries at their events:

  • 1 bull will suffer a minor injury every 8 events
  • 1 bull will suffer a career-ending injury every 100 events
  • 6 bulls have been euthanized due to injuries since 1996

Other rodeo organizations, such as CPRA, have stated that injuries to livestock are rare and minimized wherever possible.
