Volcano World is a higher education and K – 12 outreach project offered by the Oregon Space Grant Consortium, through the GeoScience Department at Oregon State University.
VolcanoWorld was founded by Dr. Chuck Wood in 1995 and since then more than fifty professionals and hundreds of students have contributed content or their time to Volcano World.
Students are able to join a group of scientists 
on 8 virtual expeditions to volcanoes around the world. Through the use of text and images students are able to accompany scientists on their research expeditions. This site includes interviews with a number of volcanologists/scientists who participated in the expeditions.
Volcano World also offers a website geared towards kids. As part of this website students/ users can submit questions about volcanoes after searching the FAQS to see if the question has already been asked. Also student submissions of artwork, photographs and stories are welcome.
