Modern Languages

The teaching of modern languages can be a controversial process because there are many different pedagogical ways by which a modern language can be taught.  The teacher may take on a grammar-focused approach, an approach that is based on deduction, an approach based on induction; the teacher may employ TPR and only speak in the target language, or she may use the students’ first language.  I have created this page in an effort to critique the methodologies that are used in order to teach languages so that I can evaluate which methodology will work best for me.
