My Experience in the B Ed. Program

The B Ed. program pushes teacher candidates to reflect on their practices.  I feel as though the program ably teaches teacher candidates to reflect on practice and improve pedagogy through its efforts to pressure us to critique the processes by which we teach.  This is done through inquiry classes, reflections on practicums, and collaborative activities in the classroom.

I am usually good at reflecting on my practice as an educator (or even outside of the realm of education), but I do feel as though the B Ed. program prompts one to consider her or his practice to an extreme extent.  While I am still a self-aware person as was the case in the past, I would say that I am now much more self-critical when it comes to mistakes made in the course of my practice as an educator and less willing to blame say, the enthusiasm of the students, or the teaching style of an SA who I am not accustomed t0.  In this sense, I am more ready to find a way to bring about a solution to an issue by working on bettering the quality of my own instruction and not rationalize that the issue is the fault of others.
