Annoying Pop-up Ad

close,close,close,close,close,close, and close it!

This is what you would do when you see those pop-up ads. After reading  Pop Up , which posted by my classmate, Jennifer Tennant , i have concluded some perspectives regarding this intersting blog.

What marketing strategy Pop-up is following? To my understanding, Pop-up is more like a way to force people to be engaged into advertisement campagin. Those annoying windows just come up right after you close some of the websites. People cannot get avoid from this marketing strategy. Well, this is a pretty much awesome strategy, in terms of getting people involved.

However, this strategy is not what people really appreciated. According to my past experience, everytime I see Pop-ups, I would rather close them right away, instead of reading them. In some cases, I see the company names that are appearing in the Pop-ups, their image are bad, not good.

My point is that Pop-up is not a right way to get in touch with customers, even though it is a efficient way for advertising. But as we all have known, marketing is not JUST ABOUT ADVERTISING, it’s about satisfying your customers and make them happy. So, we’d better find another efficient way to communicate!

The right way to say Thank you!

Thanking Your Customers with a Personal Approach

I read this article online. This article is talking about how to appreciate your customer properly. Basically, you should put yourself into the customers’ situation instead of thinking about just making some profits from them. Then, your “thank you” should not be just “THANK YOU”, instead, you should give your customers some actual gifts. In addition, the way your “Thank you” to be delivered is also important. You need to pay close attention to what is your customer’s preference.

With those tips in mind,  we can have a clear idea what should we do if we wanna give our customers some appreciations.

I would like to recall one of my previous blog regarding this article, which is I got some new cars. In that blog, I point out that I got some cars for the waiting time. Technically, that is not their appreciation to me, but if we put things this way that is the reason they are doing this because I am an existing customer and I am getting another car from them. Plus, it is their fault for not getting my car on time. All these together, they would like to make an apologize and an appreciation.

The way they have done to me is similar to what the article described.  And, I am happy with that.

You must feel weird by looking at this topic. Why am I getting SOME new cars? I am not opeaning a dealership, first of all. And there is a story behaind this.

I was gonna get myself a SUV for the winter through Nissan. Due to some issuses, Nissan could not get the car delivered on time. Instead they gave me another car to drive during the waiting time. It was a sedan, front wheel drive, good for winter, but not for heavy snow.  Well, then as you all have known, there was a big snow last week in Vancouver area. That sedan could not opreat in that such a bad road condition. I went bakc to Nissan, talked to them about my concern. And they gave me a SUV to drive, again! I am so pleased because their customer service. The way they reduce the unpleasure for me to not getting the car on time, and the way to maximum my satisfaction during the waiting time.

Well, I am Nissan’s loyal customer because I already have had one before. And, I think they will have my loyalty again in the future.

More on Tim Hortons

My friend ,Zhao, Bowei, has updated a blog regarding the advertisement of Tim Hortons. In his article Enjoy Tim Hortons on your way, he points out that Tim Hortons has done a good job on promoting its products via various medias. And, the videos in his article emphasizes the intangible product that Tim Horton delivers to people which is warm, convenience, and love.

I would like to add more comments based on his article.  In the video, we can observe that the man buys a cup of coffee at the airport as the last preparation for picking up his family. Besides those clothes, a cup of warm coffee is all he needed.  And, the most important thing is that he knows that there must be a Tim Hortons located at the airport. Yes! that is the idea i am talking about! Tim Hortons is everywhere. It’s very hard not to find a Tim Hortons store around. The distribution strategy is so great that gives people an image that Tim Horton is always there when you need it.

Small rewards = BIG feedback

Again, I went to see a movie with my friend last weekend.

There were few people standing at the front of the cinema giving DOVE conditioners to people who visited. The conditioner was a mini size one, unlike the big bottle at the store where you could easily buy one. The mini sized DOVE fitted comfortably in my pocket. And, of course, I bring it back to home and i used it. It was actually not bad to use, although i had never used DOVE conditioner before.

Well, what i would like to point out was that DOVE’s marketing strategy by giving small samples to people. By doing this, people who got the samples would have a great chance to become the users of DOVE conditioners. Then, those people might decided to use DOVE’s products continuously.

And, I am this type of consumer. I will keep using DOVE conditioner after I have used up this small sample.

Well, so many things happened last week, didnt get much time to think of updating blog.

Anyways, here i come again.

I am sure that there are people like me who are getting emails from different companies. Such emails like promotion, or sale event. Some of  are kink of annoying sometimes, but  others are kind of useful. You are notified by the sale of your dream product right away!

How amazing is that!  Just because the companies share their info to customers regularly, customers will buy more, consequently, their sales revenue will go up!

Today is a information generation, sharing info, receiving info, selecting info, and taking advantage of given info. are important skills to learn, no matter companies or customers.

Tiffany&Co. as one of the world leading jewlery company, has made lots of changes of its products’ prices along the company’s historical development.

Tiffany&Co.’s products was known as luxury personal accesories as it has been established. The pricing strategies was to set the price at a high level, so that the high price created a expensive brand image to public, in order to make Tiffany belong to high level categories.

As time goes by, Tiffany found out that if it wanted to make more sales, the pricing strategies must be changed to fit the current market environment.  Therefore Tiffany&Co. changed some of the silver products’ prices to a lower level, so that lots of young people could afford them. Such examples like the 925 series silver accesories. The price was at a range of 100-200.

However, at a later time, Tiffany found out again that the low price had has changed the brand image because people thought that they could have Tiffany accesories at a normal price. And this was an situation that Tiffany did not want to see. As a result, Tiffany deceided to raise its products’ price, and change the stores’ decoration to a higher level, so that people would enjoy comfort in store environment while they are shopping at Tiffany.

Even though the brand image for Tiffany has started changing since its new pricing strategies, there is a long time to go through because changing the brand image is not an easy goal to achieve.

Too noisy? then just leave!

I went to the Cactus Restaurant with my friends last Saturday. We had a great time there drinking some beers and wines while watching a hockey game.

I considered that restaurant a high quality place to chill because the musics were good, the food were delicious, and the waitresses were hot!

However, I felt uncomfortable at the beginning because the music was too noisy and the light in the restaurant was not bright enough, plus people were talking loudly around.

Then, I realized that I was wrong. In fact that, that was the way the Cactus should be. If I felt uncomfortable with the eating environment, I should just leave because I was then not the people they wanna target for.

The target market for Cactus Restaurant is those active young people who love noisy music and so on.

So next time when you pick a restaurant, you should understand that are you the people that they wanna target for. If not, you should just leave!

Axe, as one of the leading man’s body care brand, has dominated the north america market lately.  Axe has been promoting itself what they called the Axe effect that men who use Axe tend to get more attractiveness than those people who don’t use.

In light of Axe’s promotion strategy, its ads have been recognized as sexy and crazy. In these two ad, we can see that how powerful the Axe effect is.

I think Axe’s ad are very successful and attractive, which can make lots of people buy Axe after they have seen the ads.

YouTube Preview Image I love photography, i love taking pictures of what i think that is beautiful, and i love awsome digital cameras!  I used to have a old camera which my dad used it many years ago. It was a film camera that didnt have auto focus, didnt have big lens, and didnt have flash light. However, that old one still gave me lots of fun. Because taking pictures is a kind of lifestyle, instead of just show off your new camera.  As I get into university, my dad gives me a new digital camera, so that i can continue with my hobbit.

I believe that taking pictures means more than just taking pictures.

Today, the market competition for digital camera is fierce.  Along with the development of techonolgy, digital camera has changed people’s lives and have replaced the “old” cameras.  However, the are still people who have same feeling about photography as i do, which photography is a lifestyle.

Sony has made a great ad. on its cameras by making this video. This ad basiclly shows a couple’s romance history from a view of camera. It makes people think that having a SONY camera, life can be this enjoyable.

After seeing this ad, my friend, dont you wanna have one?
