Why Choose Scotia Bank?

Coming to Canada I never knew what to do when it came to making transactions and having a n actual bank account. I had heard from when I was in Toronto that CIBC was a very good bank so there I was making an account. Little did I know that I would be missing out on an aspect of Scotia Bank’s promotion that I really wanted. I am an avid movie-goer and arriving in Vancouver I noticed how much of a film city it was. I then quickly noticed Scotia Bank’s  huge movie promotion. Not only was it happening all around Vancouver but also directly at UBC. They were giving out free popcorn, easy sign ups and lots more. I felt for some time that I had chosen the wrong bank. I really wanted that promotion and I found it quite amazing how such a small part of the business can bring so many customers in. Scotia Bank has their on Theatre in Downtown Vancouver which is very successful when it coms to blockbuster films being watched. As an outsider to Vancouver, everyone would recommend going to the Scotia Bank Theatre to watch movies…I wondered why at first but I then came to realize that despite the very good service, Scotia Bank Theatre had earned a large market share in the industry. They have “Scene Cards” that tempt customers to joint heir bank, especially with a given of 5 free movies. It isnt cheap to watch a movie here in Vancouver so I thought this was a wonderful deal. Almost everyone goes to Scotia Bank Theatre. So why choose Scotia Bank and not the others? They achieve total customer satisfaction.

Apple and Samsung VS Sony #KnownAsBestAdEver

Apple and Samsung have been in the longest feud according to both of their consumers. The choice is either Apple or Samsung. Nothing else. This feud has put many businesses at an all time low such as Blackberry and even Sony. Sony, as oppose to Blackberry, had other products that they could focus on. They could focus on their camera’s, TV’s and many more whereas Blackberry was rather one-sided. However, I came across an advert on Facebook and I was stunned at the incredibility of this marketing. It was innovative and creative on a level that didn’t match the minds of the consumers. The link above is a link to the ad.

Having a such a prestigious situation of a wedding occurring, a fight would be just the thing to distract the audience. I shows the struggle of consumers choosing..Why not take another option? The Sony.

In my eyes it was an advert that sparked and wont be forgotten soon enough.

TV in Africa?!

Image

Looking at the global perspective of Africa, it is generalized that Africa is one of the most disadvantaged continents in the world. Many sources claim to wonder whether or not African residents and citizens have the same privileges as they do in the first world. I am openly from Africa, Uganda to be specific and I have gotten some of the most absurd questions asked to me. “Do you have a pet Lion?” or “Do you go to school on an elephant?”. Although I get quite hurt and angry when I hear these questions, how can I blame them? The media has exhibited only the rural parts of Africa to the world and North Americans’ knowledge is limited to their region only as oppose to learning about the whole world.

One question that struck though, is whether Africans have TV. I am being completely honest when I say that I laughed insanely when I was asked whether I have ever watched TV. This is where I begin by telling you about Africa’s biggest television distributer and satellite service. Known as DSTV, this abbreviation is one of the biggest international knowledge hubs of Africa…apart from the internet.  Although Dish Satellite Television (DSTV)  started very recently (1995), MultiChoice Ltd has made it one of the most prominent aspects of satellite entertainment. They focus on providing the customers with everything that is provided in the first world. Coming to Canada for the first time, I thought I would have noticed some significant differences in technology however, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that our technology was up to par with what kids and teenagers were experiencing with satellite television. MultiChoice had clearly examined their market research in relation to what market segment they were targeting and how they wanted their products to be portrayed. They target on a mass markets that consist of people that are either foreigners or international residents. They look and determine which channels and shows should be broadcasted from all over the world.

Looking at all that MultiChoice offers, I would say that generations in Africa have more or better privileges than people that are secluded in say…North America, where mostly American news is broadcasted as oppose to world news. The media has ruined Africa’s image and has therefore destroyed potential for businesses like MultiChoice to have a larger opportunity or base.

MultiChoice has ads that are high class marketing techniques; using technology…celebrities and many more Above-The-Line Promotional techniques. An example is given below. It just shows how the world has such wrong perceptions and how a country’s image can affect local businesses within.
