But when administrators raised legal objections, the ballots were impounded \u2014 and they were not counted until Wednesday, after a ruling by the National Labor Relations Board. Six months after they voted, professors found out that the union had carried the day, and the United Auto Workers would represent the faculty.<\/p>\n<p>The NLRB\u2019s ruling rejected Carroll\u2019s arguments that its religious freedom would be hurt by a faculty union.
