{"id":3236,"date":"2007-11-14T09:03:44","date_gmt":"2007-11-14T17:03:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/migrator.rab.olt.ubc.ca\/workplace\/2007\/11\/accountability-system-launched\/"},"modified":"2007-11-14T09:03:44","modified_gmt":"2007-11-14T17:03:44","slug":"accountability-system-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/workplace\/2007\/11\/accountability-system-launched\/","title":{"rendered":"Accountability System Launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Inside Higher Ed: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.insidehighered.com\/news\/2007\/11\/12\/nasulgc\">Accountability System Launched<br \/>\n<\/a><br \/>\nA new way for students and their families to compare colleges \u2014 and for legislators and others to evaluate them \u2014 was unveiled Sunday with the start of a campaign to get institutions to sign up to use it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCollege Portrait,\u201d as the effort is called, is a template for information that public, four-year institutions will provide online in an easily comparable way. Some of the information \u2014 statistics on the student body, figures on college costs \u2014 is fairly commonly found (if not always in comparable ways) on colleges\u2019 Web sites today. But the program also includes a new method for measuring graduation and retention rates and, controversially, a requirement that institutions that choose to participate conduct and release results from standardized tests as a means of measuring the learning that goes on at their institutions.
