{"id":7725,"date":"2009-12-08T12:44:03","date_gmt":"2009-12-08T20:44:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/workplace\/?p=7725"},"modified":"2009-12-08T12:44:37","modified_gmt":"2009-12-08T20:44:37","slug":"controversial-radford-university-provost-to-step-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/workplace\/2009\/12\/controversial-radford-university-provost-to-step-down\/","title":{"rendered":"Controversial Radford University provost to step down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Roanoke Times: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.roanoke.com\/news\/nrv\/breaking\/wb\/228972\">Radford University provost to step down<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Radford University Provost Wil Stanton will resign, effective Dec. 31, according to an e-mail from Stanton to the RU community.<\/p>\n<p>Stanton said he will remain at the university as a full-time professor in the college of business.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter to the university community, Stanton said he regrets the decision to leave the provost&#8217;s position.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past two months, Stanton has been embroiled in controversy.<\/p>\n<p>On Oct. 22, the university&#8217;s faculty senate took a &#8220;no confidence&#8221; vote against Stanton and asked President Penelope Kyle to replace him. <\/p>\n<p>Some faculty have accused Stanton, the school&#8217;s chief academic officer, of refusing to take a stand in favor of the faculty during a series of controversial administrative decisions, including an expedited review program last spring that eliminated programs. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Roanoke Times: Radford University provost to step down Radford University Provost Wil Stanton will resign, effective Dec. 31, according to an e-mail from Stanton to the RU community.
