{"id":9213,"date":"2012-11-02T07:55:32","date_gmt":"2012-11-02T15:55:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/workplace\/?p=9213"},"modified":"2012-11-02T21:33:29","modified_gmt":"2012-11-03T05:33:29","slug":"sfu-shut-down-second-day-behind-cupe-3338-picket-line","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/workplace\/2012\/11\/sfu-shut-down-second-day-behind-cupe-3338-picket-line\/","title":{"rendered":"SFU shut down second day behind CUPE 3338 Picket Line"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Simon Fraser University is shut down for the second day in a row. &#8220;Our picket lines are working,&#8221; reports <a href=\"http:\/\/3338.cupe.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">CUPE 3338<\/a>\u00a0Members Services Coordinator Jan Gunn.\u00a0&#8220;We met with university administration this morning and they are feeling the pressure.&#8221; \u00a0The 1,000-member union has been escalating job action in an effort to get the university administration back to the bargaining table. The workers have been without a contract for more than two years.<\/p>\n<p>CUPE Local 3338 support workers have planned &#8220;an all-out, all-campus withdrawal of services&#8221; for next Wednesday. Picket lines will go up at the Burnaby Mtn, Surrey and downtown Vancouver campuses.
