Definition Assignment
In this assignment, we were given the task to create a parenthetical, sentence and expanded definition of a related field or interest. In this case, I chose “Binary Trees” as my definition due to my involvement in the field of Computer Science. Understanding the fundamental concepts about binary trees are important when learning about data structures. The use of binary trees are observed in index searches and some Java design patterns. This is a must-read for any new Computer Science student!

Formal Report Proposal
As part of an assignment in my English 301 class at UBC, we were assigned with the task of creating a formal report regarding issues in the business field, social justice topics, or environmental sciences. As a photographer and co-founder of Tea for Two Studios, it is important for the company to create a strong online marketing presence through the use of effective e-business practices. This would be a potential solution to the reduced profitability of the company during the 2015 season. In this report, I investigated the issues that prevent the company from implementing an effective online marketing strategy. Moreover, this investigation will be supplemented with surveys, interviews and metrics data. More importantly, the interviews will be used to create recommendations that may help improve the company’s e-business sector.

Complaint Letter and Bad News Response Assignment
In this assignment, we were given the task to create a situation where we received a complaint from a client. Our goal was to use concepts from writing “You Attitude” correspondence in order to create a response that maintains professionalism. In this assignment, I chose to write about my own experience regarding a complaint I’ve received in my own wedding photography business. In this situation, the client sent me a complaint regarding the performance of one of my staff members, and the absence of their expected photographer. Unfortunately, my original photographer caught the flu and was unable to shoot their wedding day. Thus, I was only able to replace her with a photographer that had less experience due to the time constraints. My response to this complaint was primarily a professional acknowledgement of what has happened, along with a sincerely apology. I refrained from creating a ‘bad news’ response, since the wedding day could be repeated.

Peer Review
Peer reviews are important in learning how to provide proper critique to a document or project. For me, conducting peer reviews gave me an opportunity to learn about an individual’s writing style. This resulted in me integrating some of the methods I’ve learned into my own work. Thus, I see peer reviews as perfect learning tools. Lastly, peer reviews were important in improving my work by acquiring a different perspective. I was very surprised to see errors that I have not noticed during my own proofreading sessions. From this, I will certainly apply the concept of peer reviews to my own projects and activities outside academia.

‘You Attitude’ Memo Assignment
This assignment gave us the objective to create a memo for a student that has received no response from his professor for placement in a full course. Unfortunately, his initial approach involved a lack of enthusiasm and an unprofessional tone. Thus, our memo was created to provide advice for the student on how to create a professional correspondence with his professor.
