Dear English 301 Classmates:<\/p>\n
I am writing this letter for your consideration in inviting me to become a\u00a0member of your writing team in English 301, as posted by Dr. Paterson on the course webpage.\u00a0 I am currently in the Bachelor of Computer Science Program in the University of British Columbia. I have taken a first-year English writing course, subsequently followed by Chemistry, Biology and Biochemistry subjects.<\/p>\n
I have been involved in multiple laboratory courses that were evaluated through the submission of formal reports. My writing ability was further fostered in my 4th-year Recombinant DNA Techniques course. These guidelines, which are consistent to professional scientific journals,\u00a0required\u00a0concise abstracts, labelled figures, and proper citations. The amalgamation of this course with my other laboratory courses have improved my ability to write format reports in the field of science. However, I wish to improve my writing skills in other fields.<\/p>\n
I am the owner of a\u00a0small wedding photography business that was inspired by my strong interest in the subject matter. I was able to effectively communicate with potential clients through my Web Folio and blog. I was always working with a team during a wedding assignment. \u00a0An attention to detail, succinct planning, and strong emotional intelligence were paramount in adapting to the changing situation. Therefore, being able to manage a team, clients, and other business responsibilities, such as accounting, have honed my abilities as a leader and team-player.<\/p>\n
I am consistently trying to refine my writing skills by looking for feedback, and learning from peers and instructors. I am confident that my experiences in academia, small-business management, and orientation towards teamwork have sufficiently prepared me for this course.
