Advantages:
- Has prounciation
- Has a lot of infomation listed clearly, including USDA hardness zone
- Garden uses
- Way and important things to notice in culture
weaknesses:
- The characritic is in big paragraph, not easy to read
- flower and fruit description are not detailed enough
- pictures are not enough, low-res, can not show the whole plant sometimes
- does not include leaf arrangement
2. UCONN plant database
http://www.hort.uconn.edu/plants/list.php
advantages:
- easy to search (when you type in the genus, the list of plants in that genus appears on the right at the same time)
- pictures from different angles
- all features in lists(easy to read and find)
- has USDA hardness zone and the orignal place
- ID features
weaknesses:
- do not include water usage and soil requirement
- some plants can not be found
3. Sunset Western Garden Book, Lane Publishing, Palo Alto, Califonia
advantages:
- has pictures focusing on the most important ID features of the plant
- includes cultivars and variations
- concise, easy to read
- teaches the reader how to choose the plant based on their need
- and how to grow them
weaknesses:
- uses 24 climate zones, not the USDA hardness zone
- only include plants in America
- do not include landscape usage or the limitation
- do not include photos of the plant
