Further analysis and strategies for Bayjo Ltd

After doing the case of Bayjo’s Ltd, I was been thinking about its future development plan for a long time, and the following below are my deeper thoughts about how to growth their business. And I am not a consultant for Bayjo Ltd now.

From the article we can know that the Bayjo Ltd are still facing a lot of problems in Internal Management, Operation and delivery, as well as the its financial situation. To be honest, The first thing that came to my mind is the function of a director, what is Blakay’s responsibility inside the business? He had no idea about which products made profits for Bayjo and even didn’t know the business don’t have enough cash to cover the bank interest, this is ridiculous.

The second thing that came into my mind is the purpose to build up a company. Whenever what type the businesses are, they should not only focus on making as much as profits as they can, business ethics is really important to a business because this is the only way to survive in the society, you need to be popular and accepted by surroundings. For example, the quality of Bayjo’s products were becoming worse over the recent 3 years, this lead to a direct fall of customer satisfaction; although they have a good status for now, Bayjo will not performance well in the near future if the director cannot realize how important the quality is!

The third one is about the product segmentation. I think the Boston Matrix is an useful tool to distinguish the products. For current situation: Skateboards still makes a lot of profits, but no more market growth, so it should be named as a cash cow; the Bicycle contributes most profits for business, while its productivity and efficiency needs to be improved, so put it as a problem child; and for Scooter department, it is the future of business, but it contributes fewer profits and it has some internal problem such as financial incentives by its manager, so I put it under the problem child as well. However, due to the changes I mentioned in the Individual Assignment2, the skateboards should be closed in long-time but the director can decide to keep it in short time, because it will become a dog in the future. What I expect is both of scooter and bicycle can be the star after running them for a long period.

How Government depressed the development of BC farming industry?

Recently, The first Nations of BC represented its residences to reject BC Hydro’s $8-billion Site C hydroelectric megaproject. The reason why Harper government passed this resolution was because the continued growing populations, they planed to build this project to meet the future demand requirement by BC residence and also to bring a convenience to water resources transportation.

However, the side effect will be non-neglectable once the hydro electrical power station is built. One reason why I think the station should not be built is the condition of the geographical environment is not suitable. According to the relative statistical report, more than 60% of the BC government’s (Natural resources) financial income comes from the Peace River, which means the site C contribute a significant part of revenue to local residence and government. Moreover, the dam would destroy the wildlife habitat and natural farmland by flooding 83 kilometers of the Peace River.

The other reason that contributes to my thought is the new Liquefied Natural Gas project. As Roland Wilson, the West Moberly First Nation said before; the site C are planning to launch the LNG project, so that it will unable to undertake the Hydro’s program.

Generally speaking, some industries and companies are always facing the problems due to environmental issue. However, to consider these kinds of issues are government duties, so local businesses need to show understanding and recognition to those people as well as organizations.

Business ethics—Coral Reef Preservation

Coral reefs are home of the world’s most diverse ecosystems which provide a variety of` communities around the world. On the one hand, the coral reefs help to benefit the coastal communities through the development of tourism; on the other hand, it prompts the economics growth especially for the developing countries. As a developing country in East Asia, China is evidently facing the problem of the preservation of coral reefs, and the amount of coral reefs in the South China Sea has occupied almost 30% in the world. It is undeniable that coral reefs preservation has became a significant issue on the global stage.

In the modern tourism industry, using the animal bone or fossil to decorate the souvenirs has become a major part of their benefits. However, these animals are now facing the problems of surviving, once they are destroyed, the ecosystems will become unbalanced and this will affect whole marine environment. Also, the human being will not see the beautiful and brand scene anymore.

As I mentioned before, The UN has put the Coral Reef preservation as a key issue to be tackled. One of a good example among the developing countries is China. In year 1996, China endorsed the United Nations (UN) Conference on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), which affirmed that Chinese government attitude to the preservation of coral reefs in the national organization.

As the global economy continue to grow and expand, as a member of the global community residence, I think a business or even a country needs to put the environment protection as one of a key factors into the considerations.

Blue Ocean Strategy Analysis

Blue Ocean is an innovative market growth strategy created by W. Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne. Which gives a new market-growing framework to business managers, and this is an effective way to open the market in new fields and offer better services to customers in the real business society.

Why Blue Ocean has such a big power and influence? In my personal thought, it comes from one word, that is, the “Creativity”.Yes! What Blue Ocean does is to provide a different route to meet the market demand and customers’ needs in an alternative way. Which means the business is going to open a new market space and distinguish itself in the “Red Ocean”.

One of a convincing example is theSouthwest Airlines Inc. As the airlines market continue to expand, how to survive in a competitive market become extremely crucial. Jim Parker, the CEO and Vice Chairman of board of directors used the Blue Ocean to steady the SAI’s status in airline market. He used the Low Cost pricing strategy to attract more customers, and only focus on using Boeing 777 to reduce the cost of maintenance and training. While the most effective idea is the flight route design, he found that all the airlines companies did not provide the short distance services to customers, and this caused lots of inconvenience at that time. Based on the low cost, the Southwest Airlines offered the short distance services without transfer flight or stations. After the revolution of the SAI, it jumped to the top 3 companies in United States.

Thus, how to construct a blue ocean in a competitive market is a key growing strategy for businesses, not only for business itself, but also for customers, one of the biggest beneficiaries in the tertiary sector.
