Apple without Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs Dead at 56: Apple Founder Resigns for Health Reasons, Fans Mourn Around World

Steve Jobs, known as the co-founder of Apple, went away on October 5, 2011. He left innovative and gorgeous electronic products which are changing our daily life. He left his legend and spirit which are always mentioned by people.

And he also left Apple, which is almost defined as Steve’s Apple by the world.

How will Apple perform without Steve? When Apple CEO Tim Cook introduced iPhone 4S on October 4th, the share price of Apple went down by 9%. It shows investors’ disappointment on the new iPhone and indicates their unconfident expectation on the future of the Apple without its best leader Steve.

Fortunately, Steve had established the foundation of Apple. Apple produces the world leading hardware like iPhone, Mac, iPad and iPod and online services like iTunes and the coming iCloud. Apple also has more than 3,000 billion market value and talented staffs who inherit Steve’s spirits. So, Apple is still hard to be exceeded by competitors in the short term (3 to 5 years).

However, if Apple pursues to maintain its leading position in the industry, it should produce what will always amaze people to let them believe Apple can better what Steve left and create more.

BUSSINESS ETHICS CASE

News of the World Shutting Down Amid Scandal

News of the World crossed the moral line to enlarge its selling scale by violating people’s privacy right. It’s the immoral and illegal way to gain profits. The firm shall get punished by customers and laws. From my point of view, when a company tries to use illegal method to gain revenue, the company shows its low competitiveness in the industry and the illegal action is its last breath.

In this case, News of the World lost its core competitiveness as a leading company in news industry: honesty. People will not believe anything in its newspapers and magazines because it is a company which ignored laws and human rights and no one can ensure that it would provide distorted fact.

In conclusion, firms should obey laws and show respect to human rights and, in some other cases, the environment. Only in this way can companies develop sustainably for more than 168 years.
