Twitter will be the Listed Company in American Stoke Market

Although the American government has shutdown in recent days, it won’t influence Twitter getting onto the American Stock Market.

Twitter plans to raise $1 billion in its stock market debut, and It will be the largest Silicon Valley stock offering since Facebook’s listing in 2012. Banks like Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank Securities and CODE Advisors will help with the offering. If Twitter becomes listed company, there will be more billionaires in the world. After reading this piece of news, it reminded me of the pattern of stock markets in China. It is impossible for a Chinese company to get into the stock market without the government because it must rely on the department of supervision in government. Also, the American stock market can be self-adjusting and self-controlling so it has clearer examination system which can prevent bribery.

In modern society, more and more people choose to communicate through the internet, and online social services as well as microblogging service are becoming increasingly prevalent such as Facebook and Twitter. As a result, these changes facilitate the social networking company to develop drastically as well as inject new energy to the American stock market, making the market more normative. Therefore, these big companies lead other companies progress in market.

Financial success in the airline company Etihad

After doing the perceptual map in the class, I realized that I am interested in the global airline company. I researched online and found a successful airline company

In recent years, an airline company called Etihad developed, and has threatened the market shares of big European airlines like Lufthansa, British Airways and Air France-KLM. The reason why this company developed significantly is because it applied an effective financial strategy: Etihad has spent more than $1 billion buying equity stakes and lending cash to struggling airlines as well as building an “equity alliance” to bulid the Etihad’s existing network. “Etihad’s emerging status as a go-to financier has helped raise its global profile.” Moreover, Etihad provides the best services for the first-class and business-class tickets gain the reputation from the luxury and they look forward to invest the market in India and America which have the highest volume of passengers. Because of these creative and unique financial strategies, Etihad developed dramatically.

From the news, I believe that the financial strategy is a critical factor in facilitating profit making and market shares. A good executive chief or manager should not only know their competitors and the pattern of global pattern but also come up with a unique, creative and distinctive marketing and financing strategy for the company to develop now and in the future.

The obligation of Big company

Currently, the biggest search engine, Google, is facing accusations of illegally wiretapping and gathering Gmail users’ information for use in online advertisement. When this scandal was exposed, many users and non-users started worrying about their privacy.

I personally do not use Gmail, but there are approximately over half a billion Gmail users using this service, whose privacy has been infringed on. In addition, non-users of Gmail who send emails to users will also be wiretapped by the company. This reminds me of the business ethic and SWOT diagram we talked about in the class. Google is a reputable company and has the largest market share in the world. As a result, if the company wiretapped every user, consumers from all over the world would be a victim. As the world’s biggest Web Company, it is Google’s obligation to guarantee the security of consumers’ information by keeping the information private. However, the company became the “criminal” which betrayed the consumers’ trust.

To summarize, the company ought to explain their irresponsible behavior to the public. Although this event will not influence their solid market position, the reputation and the consumers’ trust should always be their priority.
