Daniel’s blog post discusses the struggling company RIM (Research In Motion).
Daniel says that the company cannot keep up with Android and iPhone in the North American market but surprisingly it had increasing sales in other markets such as in Africa and Asia.
RIM is in the final stages of developing the new Blackberry 10. I agree with Daniel that this new device could potentially be revolutionary and close the gaps between RIM and the other smartphone giants.
Daniel questions if RIM will be better off focusing on the Asian and African markets instead of struggling in the North American one. I believe that RIM can successfully expand further into the Asian and African markets but should still stay and improve in North America. I think so because RIM still holds its competitive advantage and point of difference compared to Android and Apple. Nadir Surani describes those features in his blog: “solid security features that most corporations choose because of data encryption and compression”. For this reason many businesses are sticking with the Blackberry devices and may want to switch into more of them as the new Blackberry 10 rolls out.
