I believe that as a teacher, there is much more than just being a teacher within the classroom which is why I have included this page to show my participation and connection the school as well as the community.
Grade 12 Winter Formal
24 Without
This was an overnight fundraiser for supplies to build a well and schools in Refilwe. Students were not to use makeup, electronic devices or eat any solid food for 24 hours. It was organized by a group of students who set up activities and a mystery that other students participated in throughout the night.
Board Game Club

I also facilitated in a board game club which happened every Thursday after school. Not only was this game difficult and needed a lot of thinking ahead and strategy, it was great being able to see students outside of the classroom setting and have the opportunity to build rapport and learn more about students who were more quiet.

Ms. Yiu’s Homework Club & RYSA
I continued with the Richmond Youth Service Agency in their homework club which happened every Wednesday after school. However, I always stayed after school every day of the week and found that many students needed additional homework help, which ended up being Ms. Yiu’s homework club! Students dropped in with questions from a variety of subjects or just stayed for extra activities or a place to be after school.
Stratford Hall – Skaha Lake Rock Climbing & Kindergarten Aquarium Trip
During my CFE, I went on the Grade 10 Outdoor Education trip to Skaha Lake for rock climbing and also supervised the Kindergarten Aquarium trip. It is very different trying to manage a class outside of the classroom but again, it was a great chance to interact with students on a variety of levels. I was able to see skills that students had outside of traditional academics.
