Have you ever received junk messages and crank calls? Have you ever thought about how your information be leaked? In this age of the smartphones were popularized, the safety of personal information should be taken seriously by companies and users.
The third biggest mobile firm in US, T-Mobile, announced that hackers stole the data about 15 million consumers from them, including names, birthday, phone numbers and social security numbers. However, information leakage incident like this happened a lot. In September, Apple made a statement that their Apple Store was attacked, it was found about 50 applications have malicious code, perhaps millions of people’s information was leaked out. What is more, last year, some experts found out that iPhone can record your movement accurately. For example, it records your every day tracks and how long you stay in one place. If an official’s information was leaked out, some terrorists analyze his movement through the data from his iPhone, will this affect the national security? Will your information be used for committing a crime?
These incidents relate to the social responsibilities of companies. Most companies’ aims are to maximize their profit, it is hard for them to spend a large sum of money on their information security system. However, if all the companies can look the big picture for the future, a safe system can bring them considerable number of consumers in return. In addition, if a company cannot guarantee the safety of their customer’s information, at least, they should prudently ask personal information from their consumers.
