Uber is an application that builds the connection between drivers and passengers. It is a high-tech product but deformed. Since the law is enacted several years ago, it cannot catch up with the development of morden technology. Therefore, the responsibility of the companies like Uber are now in the legal grey area. This gives people chance to use the legal loophole to commit crimes.

Since Uber was available for consumers, the news continuously reported  that some people was robbed or sexual assaulted by Uber drivers (China rape and sexual assault case; Boston rape case). Besides, some taxi drivers start to protest to Government to end the “illegal taxi service” or regulate the Uber drivers, because these illegal services disrupt the taxi market. (Anti-Ubers protest to Australian Government).

It is Uber’s social responsibility to supervise its drivers, it should investigate the information about the drivers strictly at first. I cannot deny that it is the public gives the drivers’ chance to commit crimes, because Uber now is chased by people eagerly. However, Uber now needs to deliberate about how their company could solve these serious safety problem, also, the consumers should cool down and think how they should use the app like Uber in the future. Although Uber is now in demand, if Uber do not take its responsibility for society and consumers, it might face the business decline in the long term run just like R. Edward Freeman said in the stakeholder theory.

Here is another point from Hui Ching Chan’s blog about Uber’s unethical behaviour– made fake calls to its competitor.

Another blog I recommend is Queeny Tran’s Blog, her blog looks succint and organized which attracts me.
