Selected Assignments

Below I have included some of my personal selections from assignments we have completed throughout the duration of the ENGL 301 Course

Lesson 1:3, Definitions

For this assignment we were tasked with writing a set of technical definitions (of varying construct). For my assignment I chose to write about Autism Spectrum Disorder, a condition which affects my sister and holds personal weight with me. I feel confident in my professional tone in this assignment and feel it reflects my writing persona well.

Lesson 2:1 Formal Project Proposal

One of the major constituents of this course was our formal research proposal. For assignment 2:1 we were tasked with drafting a proposal outline for our final research. I have included the scope of my research, my rationale behind my selection and some information about the topic of my study

Lesson 3:1 Writing with “You” Attitude

This assignment was one of particular importance for our class. The content of this assignment carries forward into our professional writing technique for the rest of our professional careers. We learned the tools and skills we would need to write effective technical pieces of writing by studying the attitude and tone we would need to write with.

Lesson 4:3 Final Report

Our final project proposal consisted of a 15 page research proposal to be addressed to business professionals relevant to the topic of study. I addressed my final project to the City of Vancouver and The Right Honourable Melanie Joly as my project handled sensitive matters of legislation and budget reform for arts projects in the lower mainland. All of my research and suggestions can be found within the paper attached.
