The article illustrates the unethical practices in a working environment. It highlights how a few misdemeanors can encourage larger and more fraudulent acts in what is known as the ‘slippery-slop effect’. After conducting a number of smaller mistakes, it is easy for a person to rationalize their actions until they end up conducting major acts of fraudulence. I chose this article as it exemplifies human nature in a working environment that may not necessarily be acknowledged in our daily lives. Ethics is not a concept that is actively spoken in a working environment, thus this article is relevant in the world today. These acts of fraudulence can be very detrimental to company in terms of productivity and business morale. It only takes a few small mistakes before they are capable of snowballing into something greater and more damaging. Especially as companies today are placed in front of the watchful eye of the public as well as having information that is easily assessable through technology, business are subject to great threats from the public if these acts of fraudulence were known. It is daunting to think of the various wrongdoings that people are capable of conducting and how easily they are able to get away with it.
