The Hour Before

Not only is the context of this picture personal – she is alone in her bathroom preparing herself for a night out – but her tattoo evokes a sense of intimacy as well. This wouldn’t be something you would see unless you knew the girl very well and she trusted you enough to show you.

Teenage Confessions

The most intimate component of a girl’s bedside table is her journal. She writes things she never dares to say. Only her eyes get to see the secrets.

Ecdysis

I was attracted to the reptile-like characteristics of this disintegrating pot. It resembled a snake shedding it’s winter coat.

Ecdysis: The shedding of an outer integument or layer of skin

Soles

This picture could be interpreted as a reference to the countless lives taken during The Holocaust, and the only thing left behind as evidence were shoes, hair, clothes, and other such things.

No Waves in February

I’m not exactly sure if this is “Deadpan Landscape” but I thought it would qualify because of the vastness of the water and the insignificance of the surfer. He seems to be lost at sea with no landmarks to point him the way home. The sea is a desolate landscape in itself and was beautiful to photograph.

Tired

The darkness brings about new meaning to inanimate objects. The “deadness” of this picture sends off unsettling messages of the tire-swing. The photo can also be in reference to lynching as I later found out.

The title “Infinity” refers to the water looping back and forth between the two glasses. The endless cycle and the clarity of the water is soothing to look at. The ∞ is also in reference to the figure eight the two glasses make with their rims.
