The issue of child labour has become one of the pertinent global issues facing the economies of countries around the globe, Asian countries being on the top of the list when it comes to the number of products made by working children. The working environment in which children are to work are against international laws, and often, the nature of the work these products entail is dangerous to the health.
Not only do child labourers have an adverse affect on their health and mental conditions but they often receive little or no wages. In addition, the opportunity cost of their work is their education, and education is what transforms the youth into leaders which in any case act as an asset for the betterment and uplift of any economy in this world. The trade-off for child labour is simply not worth it, as higher levels of education allow children to participate in higher-paying jobs that further help them to break inter-generational cycles of poverty.
According to International Labour Organisation (ILO) 111 million children under fifteen years of age undertake hazardous work. Statistics show that In Bangladesh 5.05 million children aged 5-14 are involved in different business activities as labourers which is just a minute reflection of the worst business ethics, particularly in this certain matter.
I, UBC and so does everyone know that when we start ” To Understand the Causes of Things” we know where we stand in the balance of mortality and that can only happen through education and eduction for these children would be a crazy dream in the absence of right resources. Therefore we, the business communities and government agencies must raise our voice against this global issue and help pave the way for a more prosperous world that financially uplifts the underprivileged and they may not fall under the shadow of ignorance and violence.
