blog on Social Entrepreneurship

untitled

Social entrepreneurship is the process of pursuing innovative solutions to social problems. We can also consider it as the process of pursuing suitable solutions to social problems. More specifically, social entrepreneurs adopt a mission to create and sustain social value. Jean-Baptiste Say, a French economist, defines social entrepreneurship as a person who “undertakes” an idea and shifts perspectives in a way that it alters the effect that an idea has on society.

In my opinion, social entrepreneurship is really similar to non-profit organization, both of them create profits for the public and promote and development of society. However, social entrepreneurship reaches this goal by founding a company, the leader can use the rights and power of the company to create profits for public. Differently, non-profit organization makes profits for everyone by holding events like donations or charity bazaar. Non-profit organizations help people by the support from others. Social entrepreneurship can be summarized as Ambitious, Mission driven, Strategic, Resourceful and Results Oriented. Social entrepreneurs are society’s change agents, creators of innovations that disrupt the status quo and transform our world.

I came across this article through IANPAUL’s blog post on November, 8. He detailed explain the cooperation of Bose and NFL, Beats and NFL and obviously in this area Bose and Beats are competitors. Bose attempted to overtake some of the 57% stake that Beats controls in the $1 billion headphone market through the sponsorship deal with the NFL, trying to further position itself in the market. Bose and Beats and also the most classic company in the headphones area. The competition between them is unavoidable and it is hard to predict that who will win this war in the end. The NFL, after its deal with Bose, fines any player ten thousand dollars who are found wearing Beats headphones during any televised events to attempt to promote brand loyalty. This rule has led to Beats accepting the fine and directly paying for it. It is really smart for beats to advertise through this way, first, people watch television every day, especially sports channel, more and more people will recognize Beats just because their favorite sport player come on the stage with a Beats headphone. Secondly, because of the rule that any player will be fined ten thousand dollars who wears Beats headphones during televised events, most sport players will attempt to win this rewards. We can consider the ten thousand dollars as advertisement fees and it is really cost-efficient for Beats. Depending on the situation now, if Bose doesn’t fight back, they will absolutely lose the war.

Alibaba and Jack Ma-blog from Young’s China Business Blog

Jack Ma, Executive Chairman of Alibaba Group, speaks at the WSJD Live conference in Laguna Beach

I came across this article through Yong’s China Business Blog, I recognzie that how Jack Ma is such a successful person. Alibaba is now one of the most famous company in the world and recently Jack Ma is aiming Hollywood. New reports are saying that Jack Ma, flush with cash just weeks after his company’s blockbuster New York IPO, is headed to  Hollywood to talk deals with the industry’s top players.

Jack Ma is absolutely one of the most successful man in the world and recently he just claimed that Alibaba Group Holding Ltd’s Alipay unit, part of the company financial services arm, “will definitely go public. He claimed that the main goal of listing is not for money, but to let more people share it. It is really rare that a company will aim the goal of making benefits for the publc. What Jack Ma says will earn lots of good opinions for him.

Alibaba has previously said it may take public its financial services arm, which is not a part of New York-listed Alibaba Group.  For Jack Ma, now it is really important for him to build a good impression for the public. Actually it is also a way of advertisement for a company, the more famous the cheif leader of the company is, the more profits they can earn from the public. Their cutomer segments have started to moving to middle and low class. There is no denying that Jack Ma is really smart and experienced in the world of business.

Airbus aims to double sourcing volumes from China to $1 billion by 2020

A flight test engineer holds an Airbus Group flag after the first flight of the Airbus A320neo in Colomiers near Toulouse

Airbus Group NV aims to double the value of materials it sources from China annually to $1 billion by 2020, a senior China executive said on Tuesday.

As a company which produces car and sell it to China, the goal is really impressive and unbelievable for the company. As everyone knows, although the price of car in China reaches a really high level, Airbus is not famous in China and most people would prefer a car they know. Airbus’ China Chief Operating Officer Rafael Gonzalez-Ripoll-Garzon made this comment on the sidelines of China’s premiere airshow in Zhuhai.

In my opinion, it is important for a company to set a goal which is appropriate for their ability and complete it in the end. It would be a huge improvement for Airbus if they rub the lamp. However, a goal which beyond their limits gives too much pressure to the stuff member and worker at Airbus and if they can’t reach the goal, it would be a body blow to the whole company. The flow of their outstanding achievement can’t guarantee that they can achieve their goal by 2020. A billion is not a small number for a company, it is confused that if Airbus can reach the goal by 2020. If it becomes true, it will be a unprecedented success in history and Airbus will be famous for the whole world.

Alibaba-comment on other’s blog

The logo of Alibaba Group is seen inside the company's headquarters in Hangzhou

After reading Andrew’ blog, I am quite interested in the events holding by Alibaba on Nov.11-Singles’ Day. Alibaba’s “Single’s Day” campaign sounds quite familiar, much like the hurricane of consumerism we see in the USA’s Black Friday and Boxing Day.  The move seems logical; taking advantage of a rapidly growing middle-class market in China (growing annually by 25%!!!) is nothing more than common sense.

Along with the coming of remember day, people in Canada start to memory and mourn the soldiers who sacrifice themselves to exchange for our peace and freedom in World War I and World War II. However, in China, it is a completely different situation, 11.11 is called the double elven, also known as Singles’ Day. At the special day, Alibaba turned the Singles’ Day celebration, Nov. 11, into an online shopping festival in 2009, copyrighting the “Double 11” term three years later after recognizing its commercial potential. Since the news is published, everyone in China is crazy, someone waits for a long time in front of the computer to rush to purchase clothes, shoes, mobile phones and furniture. Alibaba already reported that in the beginning of 38 minutes, the sales has already reached ten billion! Jack Ma successfully motivates the desires for shopping of everyone in China, China’s Alibaba is set to impress Wall Street with record sales on Singles’ Day, the year’s biggest online festival. It is so impressive that people can shop over 10 billion goods in just 38 minutes. Since the discount is 50 percent and more, people can spend less money buying everything they want at this special day.

In my opinion, it is a way of sales promotion and obviously it is really useful, especially in China which is a country with large population and high shopping quality. Jack Ma is so brilliant that he accurately controls everyone’s thoughts in China. At the Singles’ Day, people who is single will have low feelings and one of the best way to release their pressure is shopping. It is appropriate for not only women but also men. Therefore, this activities has approached a huge success and it promotes the development of economics in China and reform the shopping market.
